Weather permitting, all groups plan to start rides the first week of May. Start times vary between 5:30-6 pm, so watch for your group’s start time on the Wheelers Facebook page.
Thanks to many generous volunteer ride leaders, we have a full schedule for the season, but we are always in need of additional ride leaders to assist and serve as substitutes. If you are willing to lead a ride or assist, please contact us.
Monday Gravel Rides
Riders meet Monday at 5:30 pm
- This group enjoys variety of ride surfaces – gravel, pavement, fire road, and single track. Road bikes/narrow tires are not advisable for this ride.
- Start locations are announced weekly on Facebook and may include Nine Mile, Weston Kayak launch, Ringle Landfill and others.
- Usual pace is from 13 – 16 mph
Tuesday Road Ride
All seven road ride groups start at the Weston YMCA
The start times vary. Generally, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the Black, Red and Orange groups (the longer routes) start at 5:45 p.m., and the other groups begin at 6 p.m. Due to daylight constraints, early and late season rides begin 15 minutes earlier.
Black Group – “Sport” cycling group
- Average pace: brisk, competitive pace
- Approximate distance: Early in spring, distances will start around 35 miles and increase to 50 as daylight allows.
- This is the only group that has “DROP” rides
Red Group – “Sport” cycling group
- Average pace: brisk, competitive pace
- Approximate distance: Early in spring, distances will start around 35 miles and increase to 50 as daylight allows.
Orange Group – “Moderate” cycling group
- Average pace: 18 to 20 mph
- Approximate distance: 35 to 45 miles
Yellow Group – “Moderate” cycling group
- Average pace: 17 to 19 mph
- Approximate distance: 30 to 40 miles
Green Group – “Social” cycling group
- Average pace: 15 to 17 mph
- Approximate distance: 25 to 35 miles
Aqua Group – “Social” cycling group
- Average pace: 12 to 14 mph
- Approximate distance: 20 to 30 miles
Blue Group Leisure Rides – Family friendly
This ride is for anyone who wants to just enjoy a leisurely group ride.
- Average pace: 10 mph
- Approximate distance: 10 to 15 miles
Thursday Road Rides
Gray Group – Morning road ride
Riders meet Thursday at 9 a.m.
- Pace and distance may vary, based on participating riders.
- Start locations are announced weekly on Facebook.
“Orange-ish” Group – Evening road ride
Riders meet Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the south parking lot at Bluegill Bay Park
- Pace varies between orange and yellow groups, based on participating riders.
NEW! Lime Group – Evening road ride
Riders meet Thursday at 5:45 p.m. in the south parking lot at Bluegill Bay Park
- Pace varies between Green and Yellow groups, based on participating riders
